On May 3, 2023, the event "Days of the Macedonian capital market" was held in Skopje, organized by the Macedonian and Zagreb Stock Exchanges. The event gathered over 50 representatives of Croatian and Macedonian brokerage houses and banks, investment and pension funds, listed companies, regulators, depositories, and other market participants in one place.
Considering the ownership connection of the Macedonian and Zagreb Stock Exchanges and the intention to deepen the bilateral strategic cooperation, the primary goal of the event was for the participants of the Croatian capital market to get to know the Macedonian market in detail, which will facilitate their access to the Macedonian market.
The event was opened with introductory speeches by the President of the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Republic of North Macedonia, Ms. Nora Aliti, the President of the Management Board of the Zagreb Stock Exchange, Ms. Ivana Gazic and the Chief Executive Officer of the Macedonian Stock Exchange AD Skopje, Mr. Ivan Steriev.
"We are aware that we had to raise the mutual information about the two markets to a higher level because if we want more foreign portfolio investors to return, they must get to know our products, and our infrastructure, and find business interest and investment opportunities in our market. In the past years, we had several good years, but the main driver of the market is the Macedonian investors and a good part of the Macedonian individuals. That is good and desirable, but it's not an ideal turnover structure. We would like to have more foreign investors, for them to bring new sales and new practices", said the Chief Executive Officer of the Macedonian Stock Exchange, Ivan Shteriev.
"The Macedonian market offers extremely interesting investment opportunities and through this event, we wanted to bring them even closer to the participants of the Croatian capital market. We have a long history of high-quality cooperation with the Macedonian Stock Exchange. Given the ownership connection, we want to deepen this cooperation to mutual satisfaction in order to ensure greater visibility of the regional market and of all our companies on the global investment map," Ivana Gazic pointed out.
Presentations on the Macedonian capital market were given by Katerina Ilic-Nonkulovska from NLB Banka Skopje and Dejan Nikolovski from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of North Macedonia, while Matko Maravic from Interkapital, Croatia, and Goran Markovski from KB Publikum Invest Skopje gave a presentation with the working title "How can we develop the market together?".
Within the framework of this event, the Croatian representatives made a working visit to Alkaloid AD Skopje. At the meeting, the Croatian delegation, hosted by Alkaloid's General Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Zivko Mukaetov, followed a presentation covering the achieved results of Alkaloid's operations, product portfolio, and business operations.
